POAP kicks off 2025!

January 21, 2025. This Week in POAP, we see a POAP for the great Reddit M.E.R.G.E. Plus product updates, a raffle, and drops from Bankless, Rocket Pool, EFP, Degen, and other friends of POAP.

In the first few weeks of 2025, POAP has been busy minting memories. Organizers of remarkable events, of all shapes and sizes, and across all corners of the internet, used POAP to mark their place in history.

Make Ethereum Reddit Genuinely Excellent (M.E.R.G.E.)

Big things happened at the end of 2024! Moderators from r/ethfinance and r/ethereum came together to discuss how they could improve their subreddits. The result? A decision to merge! Now, r/ethfinance will stay open for its cozy daily thread, while technical and new topics will move over to r/ethereum.

To celebrate this big change, a commemorative POAP was created. So far, POAP #183456 has been minted 210 times, raising 0.36 ETH (around $1,200 in 2025) for the Protocol Guild, an independent non-profit funding L1 R&D maintainers. This POAP was delivered with POAP Airship.

New in POAP

📱POAP Home 1.17

The latest update makes it easier than ever for users without private keys on their mobile devices. Now, you can authenticate POAP Home via desktop! This means you can import your drops, create Moments, and more, all on the go.

And there’s more: push notifications are on the way! Testing is already in progress, and soon, you’ll be able to get alerts about your favorite POAP updates.

Network expansion

At the end of 2024, POAPs began minting on a variety of networks, including Base, Arbitrum, Mantle, Linea, Celo, Chiliz, and Ape Chain, in addition to our native Ethereum and Gnosis.

The 6th annual Bankless Citizens badge (#183656) is here! This year’s design features a cyborg, joining previous symbols like the dove, bull, owl, and dragon.

💡 Rocket Pool’s Voting Upgrade

Rocket Pool used POAP #183395, designed by shfryn.eth, to raise funds for a better on-chain voting system. Shoutout to haloooloolo.eth for organizing the sale!

🌍 Geneva Meetup

Olive Capital held a meetup in Geneva and minted 15 editions of POAP #183280 on Base. Thanks to rphgrc.eth for strengthening the system before global rollout!

🌟 Welcome, New Ethereum Follow Protocol Users!

POAP #183182 celebrates the 2025 cohort of first-time users of the Ethereum Follow Protocol (EFP). To make sure only eligible users received this special POAP, brantley.eth designed thoughtful criteria to identify those who met specific activation milestones.

🎨 Degen’s Degenniversary

Degen celebrated their first community call of the year with a special POAP minted on Base. The artwork, created by Oscar Civit, came from a POIDH contest! You can learn more about how to organize one yourself here.
