MINTING HISTORY AT VEECON

VeeCon 2024 was the third annual community conference hosted by Gary V. From August 9-11, more than 1,000 people descended upon LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles for panels, games, food, and performances from artists like Saweetie and T-Pain.

Confirmed attendees minted the Official VeeCon 2024 POAP via POAP Delivery, which whitelists eligible wallet collectors. In case you missed it, we discussed the activation with the VeeFriends team on Spaces — you can replay the Space here!

Collectors of the Official VeeCon 2024 Attendee POAP posted 100+ POAP Moments to the VeeCon capsule. VeeCon also saw a handful of other Drops, including POAPs for meeting community members, and a POAP for the VeeFriends Trading Card Game tournament at the Burglar Brunch, which doubled as a POAP Fun raffle ticket with some nice prizes.

THIS WEEK IN POAP HISTORY

September 15, 2022, was a monumental day in the history of Ethereum, as the upgrade from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake (AKA The Merge) was successfully executed, reducing Ethereum’s energy consumption by ~99.95%.

The event itself got a lot of press coverage, as did the POAP painting party that was part of the official livestream viewing party. The paint party resulted in this incredible canvas created by hundreds of people collaboratively placing 366,000+ pixels:

Besides the painting party, the official Mainnet Merge POAP raised ~$150,000 USD for the Protocol DAO, and there were dozens of other POAPs collected by 17,000+ people around the world celebrating The Merge.

COOL DROPS

  • Token2049 is kickstarting in Singapore, and POAP is on the anti-farming club bingo card. More from the conference (and Farcon Asia) in upcoming newsletters, but POAPs have already begun dropping including from Google Cloud x Chainbase and World of Women.
  • Also in Singapore: the Home Staking Summit dropped a POAP at their second workshop for aspiring or current solo stakers, and a POAP at the inaugural main event.
  • The second Warpcast Rewards POAP, given to top casters, is dropping now with some great art from yoddha.eth — check your eligibility here. The weekly POAP will have a new design each week, and is seeking artists to participate so reach out if you are interested:
  • The TUM Blockchain Conference dropped a POAP to those who attended in Munich and were thankful for the support from the POAP team.
  • Stand With Crypto and Web3 Familia dropped a POAP for attending their second presidential debate watch party in New York.
  • The Blockchain Lab at NYU dropped a POAP at the Tandon Club Fest in New York.
  • Another POAP at the ALLSHIPS Creator House in Brooklyn, this time at a “Tokyo Record Bar” event featuring lots of neon and vinyls inspired by the narrow alleys of Tokyo (check out the POAP Moments that were uploaded live throughout the evening):
  • The GM Farcaster podcast celebrated its one-year anniversary with some poker and POAPs.
  • The Ethereum Follow Protocol dropped a POAP to people who helped translate the app, in addition to the POAP they are still dropping for beta testing the app.
  • SEED Latam dropped a POAP during a livestream with information on their upcoming Devcon Scholarship Program.
  • At EthMĂ©xico in MĂ©rida, there were many POAPs, including at a keynote from Vitalik Buterin:
  • A POAP at a blockchain dinner talk, also in MĂ©rida.
  • Certain POAP holders can enter to win two free tickets to the upcoming Paris screening of Vitalik: An Ethereum Story.
  • Rocket Pool released v1.13.8 of its Smart Node and dropped a POAP to node operators who promptly upgraded.
  • A POAP for attending TechFusion 2024 in Germany, with the audience getting a lesson on POAPs:
  • Crypto Hub Malta dropped their 14th POAP, which will be integrated into their developing DAO structure and incorporated into voting rights in the future.
  • Metagate dropped a POAP during an augmented reality experience at NapulETH in Naples, Italy. Bankless Academy also dropped a POAP at the event.
  • Metadent dropped POAPs in Malaysia during an introduction on clear aligners, a modern alternative to traditional braces for straightening teeth:
  • SPS Commerce dropped a POAP to employees who participated in their 6th annual Kubb Tournament.
  • Corpus Ventures dropped a POAP at a company offsite in Spain.
  • A POAP for practicing yoga at the General Forum on Ethereum Localism in Portland, Oregon.
